Mechanical Cleaning & Acid Treatments

Excessive build-up of glaze creosote may require a more rigorous cleaning then just brushing can provide. We offer two options:

1. Rokleen: A mechanical process using a disk to remove excessive creosote.
2. Acid Treatments: An alternative to mechanical cleaning, this process usually takes three to four treatments.

Oil & Gas Furnaces

Oil and gas furnace chimneys require special care.

Gas furnaces produce acid-laden moisture that causes damage and deterioration to the inner-working of your chimney. Oil furnaces can accumulate soot containing sulfur compounds that, when combined with moisture build-up, turn into acids that are harmful to your chimney.

Both gas and oil furnace chimneys that are left in disrepair can leak harmful gases, such as carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide into your home. Inspections, cleaning, and/or repair can save your family from the poisoning by these deadly gases.

Water Damage Prevention

Water penetration is the number one source of premature chimney deterioration.

Exterior Damage:
Exterior water penetration can lead to freeze-thaw damage and deterioration, spalling and even structural failure.

Interior Damage:
Rain water reaching your chimney's interior can cause direct damage to metal fireboxes and dampers, as well as flue tiles and mortar joints.

At Champion Chimneys we offer a number of different ways to prevent water damage depending on your specific situation and budget.

Fireplaces

Even if the exterior of your fireplace chimney appears to be in perfect condition, there may be damage on the inside. Possible problems include:

  • Build-up of creosote on the flue walls
  • Loose and or crumbling bricks and mortar
  • Cracked or missing pieces on the liner

These conditions can result from improper maintenance, poor construction, improper venting, excessive moisture as well as other causes. All of these conditions, however, can be addressed.

Woodstoves

Woodstoves are wood-burning appliances, similar to traditional fireplaces. Just like fireplaces, their chimneys and flues need regular inspection and cleaning.

Relining

If your chimney's interior has deteriorated one option is relining. Relining can be done for flues of any shape and contour and for any type of appliance.
